Energia Renewables is delighted to announce its sponsorship of the Passage Hurling Club’s Beat the Ferryman Swim – an open water swim across the River Suir from Ballyhack, Co Wexford to Passage East, Co Waterford.
Held on Sunday, 10th July at 3:15pm, competitors have the opportunity to swim from Leinster to Munster. Caroline Roche, Energia Offshore Environment Manager said “We’re thrilled to be involved with the Beat the Ferryman Open Water Swim. The event’s popularity with locals and the wider swimming community is evident and we look forward to a great day in Passage East in July”.
The 600 metre swim has an entrance fee of €25 and includes an exclusive swim hat for the first 180 swimmers registered. Swimmers will be ferried to Ballyhack by The Passage East Ferry Company to begin the swim. Competitors are asked to register online in advance and sign in at the Passage Community Centre on the day. Prizes for first, second and third, male and female swimmers will be awarded.
This is not just a day for swimmers but a family fun day out with music, a kid’s playground, hot food and drinks as well as sweet treats, its sure to be a great day for spectators too. Refreshments for competitors and the awards ceremony will take place within an hour of the swim finishing in the community centre.
The swim is organised in conjunction with Passage East Ferry Company and Port of Waterford. Dunmore East Coastguard will coordinate the comprehensive safety plan for the event.
